Nurses are caring hands, are enriched by knowledge of life sciences, life experiences with great skills to care, people who are sick, promote the health of people and assist in peaceful and dignified death.

Nursing has evolved from assisting physicians and became advocates of health for people. Which is the great strength of profession itself!

Hence, way forward for nurses is to take charge of primary health care and make it reach the last person on earth. Think how big the task is? We have to care 7 billion people! Everyone one of them needs the care when you are born the first person to touch is a midwife and while you die the person beside will be mostly Nurse. So, Nurses role is very significant and essential in any human life.

Recently many democratic countries have realized that delivering primary healthcare to the needy at an affordable cost is challenging, however, I believe it is not a challenge if we could rethink the delivery of primary healthcare.

Primary health care can be delivered by Nurses at the affordable cost and can be made universally accessible because of exponential advancement in mobile technology, diagnostic technology and increased rate of health literacy due to increased access to health information through the internet.

Moreover, nurses are specializing in particular departments like OBG, Child Health Nursing, Community Health Nursing, Gerontology etc.

Now, what we need is political will, visionary leaders who could shoulder the responsibility to lead millions of nurses across the globe and strong policymakers who think nurses can do this!
