COVID19 Failed Indian Govt

Hi all,

How are you all? I understand as a nurse what are you going through your health, socially and economically, its difficult time for all of us, the pandemic is an uncertain health challenge, where many fail and only a few succeed, but as a country, we failed but as state few succeeded in this situation.

Yes, I do understand we are the largest democracy, the second-largest populist country in the world. however, I trust and believe in our spirit of overcoming challenges while being less vocal about local internal politics.

I have been contemplating since my Facebook post and the question received by the fellow friend Mr. Dinesh Patil, he asked me how we failed in handling the pandemic same day I have listed the points to be expressed or addressed, here is the list of points I would like to address or rather express my personal opinions, the union of states failed in following
  1. Awareness (ಅರಿವು)- Insesitiveness and Sensibility

  2. Work (ಕಾಯಕ) - working on the ground

  3. The distributive technology (ದಾಸೋಹ)

  4. Societal understanding (ಸಮ-ಸಮಾಜ)

  5. Accountability (ಉತ್ತರದಾಯಿತ್ವ)

Fellow Indians, we have the immense capability if we could understand the pre-emblem of our constitution which is WE, THE PEOPLE OF INDIA, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
  1. JUSTICE, social, economic and political;

  2. LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith, and worship;

  3. EQUALITY of status and of opportunity; and to promote among them all

  4. FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;

Hence, let us discuss this topic based on our preamble,
  1. Awareness (ಅರಿವು)- Insesitiveness and Sensibility

Any pandemic happens doesn’t happen overnight in this connected and globalized world, there’s is the contextual reference and the timeline for the pandemic and how the union govt responded, its not just the negligence of the government but also it had taken the opposition party lightly, this is the strange attitude of the current regime, which beliefs in traditional medicine, however, takes the decision based on allopathic medicine believing organizations advice, which is expected but at what cost?  So, I derive from the govt that it failed to understand what pandemic is and it was in a confused state hence it took a lot time to realize its pandemic, and to fight this we need to adopt modern medicine proposed measures. Where it has proved that it is insensitive to crisis and their think tank could not gauze the seriousness of the issue hence it has lost the sensibility.
  1. Work (ಕಾಯಕ) - working on the ground

The current regime at the union level failed to work! It washed its hands to assigned to the states the responsibility to handle the crisis, surprisingly the states I closely followed on social media, and on mainstream media have done exemplary work to contain the pandemic! Where migratory international travel was obvious despite that they contained, what went wrong with you the union govt? In spite of you having the control and authority on ports, airports, and health intelligence? And world health agencies at your disposal despite that you could not gauze the crisis? Here also you failed in spite of the cooperating opposition party and health intelligence.
  1.  The distributive technology (ದಾಸೋಹ)

We are the capital and largest exporter of IT and IT services, which the union govt failed to utilize and involve the distributive technology services, whereas some states succeded and then union got couldn’t acknowledge the efforts and to adopt at the national level.  We could have used the distributive technology to address the challenges arisen out of the lockdown declared by the union govt in food, shelter, clothes, transportation, education, and healthcare. Where a lot of online and offline solutions available, still you can try on that.
  1. Societal understanding (ಸಮ-ಸಮಾಜ)

The kind of society we lived in the casteist society and living in the classist society in the urban, we have lost the empathy for the underprivileged, though we believe in a diverse culture we have failed to adopt the sensitiveness for the diverse culture for our colleagues, coworkers, and the caretakers, this has left a wide gap in the society to understand the difference between the social distance and physical distance to fight the COVID19. This is the inherited challenge of Indian society which the current regime would like to propagate this status-quo.
  1. Accountability (ಉತ್ತರದಾಯಿತ್ವ)

This union govt enjoys the great majoritarian religious and nationalistic views on geography than the people of the country, hence it has a great escape from the accountability because most mainstream media is gaga over the false accomplishment of the govt and propagating widely as the success in handling pandemic.
To summarize this govt has violated all the principles we have been resolved since 1947, we have failed to provide JUSTICE  to the elderly, pregnant woman, and the labor class. LIBERTY is curtailed by unscientific lockdown, EQUALITY is not ensured by not arranging or ensuring equal access to the services provisioned by the govt. FRATERNITY was alien concept to this regime, where the mainstream medium was associating the disease with religion, and govt was mum except for few state govt heads.
Hence, I derive that this govt is incapable of handling the crisis, and pandemic shall step down of their responsibility to protect 1.3 billion people. I am also aware that this shameful govt will not let down the power in spite of its failures because of majority religious beliefs, despite 100% of the population are affected by the COVID19. I also would like to share a toon which explains better than my words by Satish Acharya
